New British Record for Kirkbride

WSIS supported weightlifter Peter Kirkbride, of the Kilmarnock Weightlifting Club has been busy putting in a strong performances at the European U23 Weightlifting Championships in Wladyslawowo, Poland 11-18th October and also at the British U-23 Championships in Kilwinning, 31st October.

In the European Championships, competing at 94 kilos, Peter lifted six out of six lifts to finish sixth place. Peter snatched 135, 140 and 143 (8th position) and then clean and jerked 175, 180, 183 (6th position) to set a total of 326 kgs to win the sixth place. As a result of his performance, Peter set new British U23 records in the snatch and total.

Peter followed this up at the British U-23 Championships with a victory in the 94 kilo category and set a new British U-23 record for the jerk in the process, lifting 185kg to round off a successful period for the Kilmarnock lifter.
